122 cars were in the pits for Fan Appreciation Night #1 at Midvale Speedway. The racing on Saturday night, May 25, was the first of two nights of racing at Midvale on a special holiday weekend.
23 cars took the green in the Tusco Net Detroit Iron division. At the end, Jimmy Orr crossed the line in first. Second went to Doug McMillen. McMillen was followed by Tim Skinner, Kevin McClintock, and Bill Aubihl. Will Walker, Travis Devore, Waylon Orr, Mario Kelly, and Dave McMillen finished off the top ten. McClintock won the dash. Mike Royer, Travis Page, and Skinner won the heats, while Keith Thomas was the top qualifier and won the pursuit.
In the Papa John’s Pure Stock division, Norm Stutler beat 23 other cars across the stripe for his first win. Greg Mazzoleni, Jim Shaw, Mike Martin, and John Leasure rounded out the top five. Bryan Aubihl, Curtis Collins, Joe Oliver, Brian Wood, and Brian Oliver completed the top ten.
In Compact racing action, Billy Stutler was the top qualifier and also won the fast feature. Bubba Smith, David Breehl, Kelly McNutt, and Randy Hahn finished off the top five. Shawn Smarsh, Lennie Orr, and Anthony Coburn were the other three feature winners.
Picking up preliminary wins in the Compact divisions were Justin Courtney in the dash, and Phil Veno, William Scott, Josh Feister, John Wissman, and James Perrenoud in the heats, and Kelly McNutt in the whip race.
