Season Opener Washed Out
April 13, 2002
The Tusco Net/J.D. Byrider of Dover Season Opener, was cancelled due to overnight and morning rains that plagued Midvale Speedway.

The opener will now be held this coming Saturday, April 20. Late Models, Modifieds, Detroit Irons, Pure Stocks, and Compacts will race for double points.

It will also be the speedway's first night requiring all drivers to use scanners to monitor a track official. This will be used for safety as well as lining drivers up during caution flags.

Late Model, Modified, and Detroit Iron drivers may want to tape over their ears, after inserting the earpieces to block out excess noise. Glen Jewell, a Modified competitor, tested the devices on Friday's test and tune, and had some problems understanding what the official was saying. However, he did not have tape or cotton blocking out the extra noise.

The speedway will have a test and tune session for competitors this Friday, April 19 from 4:00-8:00. Then on Saturday, April 20, the pits open at 1:30, hotlaps start at 2;00, qualifying runs from 3:50-5:50, and racing starts at 6:30.
