Ohio's Fun Place to Race!!

Race enthusiasts awoke on Saturday, August 6 knowing that there was a slim chance that any racing would take place. Forecasters were calling for a 60% chance of rain but, for most of the day, it was dry at the 3/10-mile oval. Practice, qualifying, and five heat races were completed without a hitch.
Then about 20 minutes after racing started, Mother Nature rained on everyone’s parade, or racing actually. Officals waited close to a half hour before deciding that the upcoming window wasn’t going to be enough to dry the track and continue with any racing. Even though rain stopped at about 7:30, another batch blanketed the area close to 9:00.
Ron Jaberg, Jr. and Derek Grewell claimed the McIntosh Oil Company Late Model heat wins, while Bubba Smith set fast time. In Summit Racing Economy Modified action, Scott Archer set the quickest lap in qualifying, while Dave Dobbins and Mark Willison, Jr. won the heats. The final division that was able to race was the Pure Stock class. Just one of the two heats were completed, with Bill Aubihl claiming the win from the back. The second heat was just getting ready to go green when the rainfall picked up in intensity. Mike Martin set fast time in the Pure Stocks.
Both Compact divisions were able to qualify but never hit the track for a race. Dan Herron set fast time in the Outlaw Compact class but was disallowed because of a wheel infaction. Kyle Grove was credited with the best lap. Jeffrey Orr was the Stock Compact top qualifier.
The Super Cup Stock Car series visits Midvale Speedway for the first time this coming Saturday, August 13. The division is basically made up of former Hooters Pro Cup cars. They will compete in a 100-lap event. Joining the travelling division will be Late Models, Pure Stocks, Outlaw Compacts, and Stock Compacts.
Pit gates will open at 1:00, SCSC hotlaps from 2:00-3:00, Midvale hotlaps 3:00-4:30, SCSC scuff session 4:30, qualifying at 4:45, and racing at 6:30.
Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 62+, $8 for kids 6-15, and children 5 and under are free. Pit admission will be $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Those with rain checks or wristbands may present them at either of the next two events.
