Ohio's Fun Place to Race!! 2026 Race Season |
 | June 4, 2011 |
A really nice weather day took a turn for the worse at about 7:00 this past Saturday night at Midvale Speedway. Hotlaps and qualifying took place without a hitch as a decent field of cars were there for autograph night. At race time, officials were watching radar as huge storms moved in from the North. The fans were sent to their cars after the Pure Stock heats, as severe lightning was approaching. Then came a torrential downpour. With tornado sirens blaring, the races were called for the night.
In the McIntosh Oil Company Late Models, Doug McMillen repaired his car from a previous week accident and set fast time in qualifications. Rick Sibila looked solid and claimed the fast heat win in convincing style and Ron Kirkpatrick won his second career Late Model heat race with the second preliminary event.
The Summit Racing Economy Modifieds had point leader Dave Dobbins quickest in time trials. He then came from the back of the fast heat to finish second to 14-yearold rookie driver Alex Rosenberry. For the New Philadelphia, Ohio youngster, it was his first career win in a full sized car. Bill Burkholder won the second heat for his second preliminary win in a row.
In the Pure Stock division, Teddy Oliver, the point leader laid claim to the fast time. TJ Barker picked up his first career Midvale checkered with the fast heat win, while Todd Miller took the checkers in the second race.
After the second Pure Stock heat, no other on-track activities took place, other than boat racing. Wristbands and rainchecks will be valid on either of the next two Saturdays. You must present the raincheck or wristband to receive entry.
Points for the competitors do count from qualifying and the heats that were run. The Autograph night will be made up on Saturday, June 18 when all of the regular divisions return.
Next up is the TBRA Late Model series. The division, which took over for the Bounty Series, stands for Template Body Racing Association. They opened up their season at Lorain County Speedway this past Saturday and Jimmy Carter bested the field of 18 cars for the victory. The two-time Main Event champion was followed by Norm Taylor, Will Thomas, Tyler Strickland, and Dustin Hayes.
Joining the division for their 75-lapper will be Economy Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Outlaw Compacts, and Stock Compacts.
Despite the special event, admission prices will remain unchanged at $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 62+, $8 for kids 6-16, and children 5 and under are free. Pit admission is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
Pit gates open at 2:00, hotlaps are at 3:00, qualifying is at 4:45, and racing action will take the green at 6:30.
