The 2010 season came to an end this past weekend at Midvale Speedway. On Friday, it was the rescheduled Season Championship night from last Saturday, while Saturday was the regularly scheduled Fall Classic.
On Friday, Clinton, Ohio driver Mike Miller held off Bubba Smith to claim the McIntosh Oil Company Late Model championship by winning the feature from the 12th starting spot. Miller used the outside lane to work his way to the front and passed Ryan Tedesco on last lap restart to take the win.
Saturday's Late Model program included two 25-lap feature segments. In the first, Tedesco avenged his previous night's runner-up finish with the win. He then rolled a "4" on a die to put himself in the fourth spot for the second 25 lapper. That put Bryant Smith on the pole for the second race. Smith held on for the win, but it was anything but easy. His brother Bubba, along with Miller and Tedesco all challenged.
In the Tusco Net Sport Stock class, Randy Smart of Dover, Ohio convincingly claimed the point championship. Kevin McClintock picked up the Season Championship feature win on Friday night by holding off Smart.
During Saturday's final Sport Stock feature, Randy Smart worked by McClintock for the victory.
Mike Martin crossed the line in first during Friday's Pure Stock Season Championship race, but was found to have illegal pistons in post race tech. That gave the win to Adam Stewart, who has been running strong as of late. The point title was claimed by Canton, Ohio's Teddy Oliver. It was his first career championship.
On Saturday, top qualifier and division frontrunner Chris Mick of Stow, Ohio claimed the dominating victory.
In Compact racing, Rich Dunlap, of Dover, Ohio was the man to beat, all weekend long. Dunlap won the feature and the point title on Friday night. Then on Saturday, during an extended lap feature, Dunlap pulled away to another victory in the Kelly McNutt owned #36.
Neil Rolli won the Figure 8 championship by claiming another win on Friday night. Saturday's event found Jason Morgan in victory lane for the first time in 2010.
Saturday's events also saw Derek Grewell claim the victory in the trailer race. Terry Colletti took the win in the officials race. Kevin Renicker won again in the Spectator Drags.
Midvale Speedway officials want to thank everyone that helped make the 2010 season an exciting one. More improvements are coming soon to the facility and the excitement level is high for the new Economy Modified division coming in 2011.
