 10:56 UPDATE: Today can't be raceday, can it? The sun is visible. Had to turn the air conditioner on in the tower. My cell phone is not constantly playing the CSI Miami theme song as people ask if we are going to race tonight. I'm not watching radar. I could go on and on... Anywho, we are racing tonight with the four regular divisions plus the Circle Track Mini-Trucks. Should be a great night. Midvale Speedway, where the only forecast for thunder is coming from the track, not the sky.
Drivers again converged for practice this past Saturday, May 8, at Midvale Speedway. Unfortunately, that's all they were able to get in. Shortly before qualifying, another rain shower frustrated competitors and official and canceled another night's events. That makes it Mother Nature 3, Midvale Speedway 1.
Everyone's going to give it another college try this coming Saturday, May 15. As of Monday, the forecast looks good for the first time for the 2010 racing season, though it is still early in the week. The Circle Track Mini-Trucks will be making their only visit of the season, while the Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Compacts will also be in action.
Fans will be playing racecar bingo from their seats with chances to win prizes like Midvale Speedway tickets.
Pits open at 2:00, hotlaps and grandstands at 3:00, qualifying at 4:30, and racing at 6:30. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 62+, $8 for kids 6-15, and children 5 and under are free. Pit admission is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.

8:00 UPDATE: Saturday practice times have been updated. For those wondering, another light rain came through the area about 7:30.
4:00 UPDATE: Racing action canceled due to passing rain that hit the area at 3:30.
1:30 UPDATE: Teams are already arriving pitside for tonight's events. The track will probably be bad fast with the chilly conditions. Look for another track record or two this evening.
Racing will continue TONIGHT, Saturday night, May 8 with Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, Compacts, and Figure 8's. Temperatures will be cool, but are not expected to drop much tonight due to cloud cover. The 10 o'clock temp, which is our goal to be finished for the night, is forecasted to be close to 50 which is not much lower than it is now. Winds are also expected to decrease a little during the evening hours.
It will be drivers choose their lane night for starts and restarts. Cars will line up single file and then choose inside or outside the cone. Strategy will come into play and drivers will have the chance to pick up spots before even going green. The concession stands will also have the popular $1 Dogs/$1 Pops all night long.
