4/8 UPDATE: Drivers will be preparing their rides for the April 17 opening night, this coming Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11 at Midvale Speedway. Practice will be held each day from 12:00-5:00. A final test and tune will be Friday, April 16 from 3:00-8:00.

Over 40 competitors have picked up their scoring transponders in preparation for the start of the season. The scoring system is scheduled to be installed on Friday morning and will be ready to log times on the Saturday/Sunday test and tunes. Anyone wishing to purchase one, may do so by stopping by the racetrack. Cost is $155 plus $10 tax. Drivers are required to have one installed to compete on opening night.

Fans are welcome to stop by and check out the ongoing renovation project at the speedway. So far, several sets of dilapidated steps have been replaced with commercial concrete stairs, buildings have been repainted, several wall barriers have been replaced, and the second level of the pits has seen over 30 new concrete pads installed. The second level will be ready for parking on April 17.

Pit admission for the test and tunes is $10 per person, while grandstand admission is free. More information may be available at www.midvalespeedway.com

3/30 UPDATE: TRANSPONDER LOCATIONS ANNOUNCED...

Note to all...We recommend that you wire into on/off switch so that power is killed to the device when you shut the car off. A bracket can be built, by any of the top three divisions, to place the transponder off of the frame rail on preferably the left side. Dimensions are listed below.

Late Models - A bracket off of frame, directly under rear end tube. Center of transponder under center of tube. Left or right side of car, but prefer left, as it will be easier to hook up power from your on/off switch.

Sport Stocks - Center of transponder 11" back from center of rear end tube. Can be left or right, but prefer left, as it will be easier to hook up power from your on/off switch.

Pure Stocks - Center of transponder 11" back from center of rear end tube. Can be left or right, but prefer left, as it will be easier to hook up power from your on/off switch.

Compacts - Center of transponder 11" from back of rear end & bolt to underside of spare tire carrier.

3/28 UPDATE: Car show has been completed. Thanks to all who participated.

Over 30 transponders were sold at the show and information will be posted by the middle of the week on official placement for each division. Drivers that would like to get one to install before test and tune may do so by purchasing one at the track. Cigarman is there most afternoons during the week. Call ahead if you are coming from a long distance to confirm. His number is 330-447-4178.

3/26 UPDATE: Just one day remains in the 2010 car show. On Saturday, over 20 drivers purchased their transponders for 2010. They, along with pit pads, will remain on sale Sunday during the mall hours of 12:00-6:00.

3/26 UPDATE: Day one of three is in the books at the car show. Many people stopped by to pick up schedules, rules, and get information on the 2010 season.

Transponders are now available at the show for purchase. With tax, the total comes to $165 and several drivers have already purchased theirs in hopes to install them before the test and tune in two weeks. They will be available on Saturday and Sunday as well. A number of drivers also reserved their pit pad for '10.

Information on official transponder placement will be coming within the next week or so. The placement may vary between divisions and officials want to make sure the best placement for each class is chosen.

3/25 UPDATE: The 2010 racecar show at the New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia, Ohio has begun. Cars entered the building on Thursday night and will be displayed Friday-Sunday, March 26-28. Mall hours are 10:00-9:00 on Friday and Saturday and 12:00-6:00 on Sunday.

In upwards of 15 full sized racers plus 6 Midvale Karting Series entries are on hand. Included are three outlaw Late Models that will race at Midvale Speedway weekly, a Bounty Series car, an ARCA Super Truck, a handful of Compacts, a Sport Stock, a Pure Stock, the karts, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Midvale Speedway also has a table set up near the fountain area to hand out schedules and information on the 2010 campaign. Stop by and say hi.

3/24 UPDATE: Entries for the 2010 Midvale Speedway car show at the New Towne Mall will enter on Thursday night at 9:00. The forecast calls for a lot of rain throughout the day and evening, so make sure to bring sufficient towels to dry the car off once you enter. We will do our best to make the process as quick as possible so that no one melts. Cars will be on display from Friday-Sunday.

3/20 UPDATE: New Midvale Speedway owners Randy and Sue Smith have begun improvements at the historic 3/10-mile oval in Midvale, OH. Many goals have been set, while some have been put into motion.

Officials have already gone forward in purchasing a state of the art timing system in which the drivers will be scored electronically for the first time in track history. Drivers will be required to purchase a Raceceiver transponder and install it on their car to race. Cost will be a one-time fee of $155, much lower than the $300 that was originally planned. The timing system will not only provide accurate lap-by-lap scoring for race events, but will also allow drivers to search and view their times online from practice, qualifying, and racing. Drivers will want to purchase before opening night so that they may get the wiring installed to provide the unit power. Transponders will be sold by the track, which hopes to have them available for purchase by the March 26-28 car show.

Pit pads will also be available for purchase at the mall show. This year's fee to reserve a spot is only $100, and must be paid in full to have a location saved. If it is not paid before the season opener, the spot becomes available for anyone to use. Teams are not required to purchase a pad in 2010, but all unreserved spots are first come, first serve every night.

Other improvements have begun as well, including new sets of concrete steps for the main grandstands as well as the pit grandstands in turn 3, while additional concrete pads will be installed. The Smith family is weighing the priority of additional changes that will take place in the near future, ensuring they take care of the most important things first.

The new campaign will begin with the New Towne Mall racecar show from March 26-28, open to Midvale Speedway racers. Many spots are still available and there is no cost to enter. Preseason test and tune dates will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11 and Friday, April 16. The 2010 season opener will be Saturday, April 17, with the first race at 6:30.

Rules and the 2010 schedule are online. More exciting announcements coming soon at www.midvalespeedway.com.

3/15 UPDATE: Midvale Speedway officials still have plenty of spots open for this year's car show. The new campaign will begin with the New Towne Mall racecar show from March 26-28, open to Midvale Speedway racers. To signup, send an email to info@midvalespeedway.com..

3/10 UPDATE: Midvale Speedway officials have announced on March 10, that the newly formed Late Model Bounty Series will make a stop at the historic 3/10-mile on Saturday, July 24, 2010. The series will feature template bodied Late Models with either crate OR built engines. Midvale Speedway joins Sandusky and Lorain County as the tracks on this year's schedule. For more info on the Bounty Series, go to www.bountyseries.com.

After an ownership change that was made official just a couple of weeks ago, officials have been working at a rapid pace to prepare for the 2010 season at Midvale Speedway. Divisional rules and the new "Thunder In The Valley" schedule have been announced and posted online at www.midvalespeedway.com.

With the lateness of the rules being released, very few changes have been made to the five divisions. The change that stands out the most is the increased payoff across the board. Additional money has been added to the feature pay for Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Figure 8's. The McIntosh Oil Company Late Models, depending on car count, will be racing for as much as $800 to win and $200 to start. For the Tusco Net Sport Stocks, the top possible payout is $300 to win and $60 to start. In the Pure Stock division, $200 is now the top prize, while drivers can make as much as $30 to start if there are 20 cars. Start money was added to the Figure 8 pay, based on 10 cars or more. A complete breakdown of payouts can be found in the divisional rules that are online.

The 2010 schedule includes a number of specials including the fan favorite Main Event Racing Series for two dates. The Super Late Models will be competing in a 75-lapper on Saturday, May 29 and Friday, July 2. Returning after a several year hiatus will be the ARCA Truck Series. The super trucks will run on Saturday, August 14. Rounding out the schedule are three dates for the Legend Cars, one for the Circle Track Mini-Trucks, and all of the other mainstays that have made Midvale Speedway one of the premier short tracks for over 55 years.

The new campaign will begin with the New Towne Mall racecar show from March 26-28, open to Midvale Speedway racers. Preseason test and tune dates will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 10-11 and Friday, April 16. The 2010 season opener will be Saturday, April 17, with the first race at 6:30.

Printed rules and schedules are online and will also be available at the Stark County Fairgrounds this coming Saturday and Sunday, March 6-7. For directions and swap meet info, go to www.autoevents.com.
