Ohio's Fun Place to Race!!
2026 Race Season |

 With five divisions in action, there was a lot of racing on tap this past Saturday, July 18, at Midvale Speedway. The night, though, was all about the kids, as racecar rides were held after qualifying and bikes were given away at intermission.
In total, 15 bikes were passed out to children in the stands. Donating bikes were Midvale Speedway, Dean Mowls, Rick Hostetler, Bill Ditto, Zoar Air Design, Hi 5 Racing, McClintock's Federated Racing, Barb Smith, Country Boy Motorsports, Animal/Rufener/Ennis Racing, among others. The event left smiles on a number of kids' faces.
In the racing portion of the program, the McIntosh Oil Company Late Models had their second bad feature of the season. For the most part, the Late Models have run competitive, clean features this season. Night #3 was a rough one and so was this one. 18 cars started, less than half finished. Todd Ripley started on the pole and took the early lead. Behind him, top qualifier Bubba Smith was on the move in the outside groove. Smith took over second and started to challenge, but never really got a chance to mount a serious one as caution after caution plagued the event. Ripley, driving the Jaberg, Jr. Route 39 Auto Salvage car while his own powerplant is being repaired, never faltered and hung on the for the victory. Mike Miller rallied for second with damage on his car, while Smith fell to third with a flat left rear tire. Rich Dessecker was fourth and Rich Marcum finished fifth. Bob Schneider, Jr., Greg Beule, Emerson Huffman, Mark Willison, and Jonathan Reitter completed the top ten. Reitter's car was demolished in a grinding crash off of turn four, while Willison, George Riddle, Ernie Shook, Randy Smith, and Dave McAlicker also sustained heavy damage during the event. Shook, Schneider, and Ripley won the heats.
The Northern Ohio Legends went flag-to-flag in their feature event. Dennis Knox started on the pole, but the win wasn't easy as Evan Finley and Jason Knox followed closely over the last few laps. The Falls Electric -1 car made it 2-for-2 at Midvale this season. Finley, Jason Knox, Larry Young, and Brandon Huff were top five finishers. Tim Davis, Andy Yoder, Randy Burns, Mike MacDonald, and Wendall Napper were the rest of the top ten. Jason Knox and Burns were heat winners.
The Tusco Net Sport Stock feature had many time feature winner Ron Dague getting out front early. Dague held off a hard charging Randy Smart for his seventh feature win of the year. The Tolloti Pipe/Barnhill Storage #75 was followed by Smart, McClintock, Bill Aubihl, and Ron Kirkpatrick. Smart was removed from the finishing order for tire softness. Dague also won the heat and was credited for fast time in qualifying.
The Integrity Auto/Conrad Insurance Pure Stocks had Brian Minard leading the first lap, Ronald Bunton the second, and Teddy Oliver the third. Oliver went on to claim the victory in his Stewart's Flooring/Deals On Wheels #49. Keith Anderson finished second, while Tad Grove, Phil Bunton, Jr., and Brian Minard were in the top five. Others in the top ten were Bob Passwaters, Jr., Josh Flesher, Todd Miller, Ronald Bunton, and Luther Chambers. Oliver and Ronald Bunton won heats. Tad Grove set fast time.
Tim Westerfield, Jr. made his return to Midvale after a few weeks away and made it a good one by claiming the fast feature win in the Parkway Auto Group Compacts. Westerfield started on the pole and left the field early, while Derek Grewell caught him later. The Gable Engine/Greg's Towing #28 was followed by Grewell, Jesse Page, Tammy Rufener, and Kelly McNutt. Others in the top ten were Don Rufener, Jr., Kyle Rector, Brad Henry, Johnny Campbell, and John McNutt.
Neil Rolli was victorious in the second Compact feature event. Cliff Cox looked to be on his way to victory but the engine sputtered on a late race restart. Rolli, driving the Murray's Bail Bonds #46 held off Jason Anthony, Rich Hess, Billy Nicholas, and Jeffrey Orr. Don Rufener, III, Taylor Moore, Cox, Max McCartney, and Jake Albright finished off the top ten.
Tim Frederick crossed the line first in the final Compact feature but failed tech and Ashlee Page picked up her first career victory. Page's win was deserving after running her best race in her rookie season. Justin Renicker, Rob Scott, Kenny Griffith, and Bryce Allensworth finished in the top five.
Tammy Rufener, Tim Westerfield, Jr., Don Rufener, III, and Paul Stull won the Compact heats. John McNutt had fast time.
The USA Modifieds will visit Midvale for the only time this season, Saturday, July 25, for a special 50-lap feature. The open wheel cars will be joined by Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, Compacts, and Figure 8's.
Pit gates open at 2:00, practice starts at 2:30, qualifying will be at 4:30, and racing will take the green at 6:30. Grandstand admission for this special event is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for kids 6-15, and children five and under are free. Pit admission is $20 for Midvale Members and $30 for non-members.
