Ohio's Fun Place to Race!!
2026 Race Season |

 An action packed night of racing action was on tap for fans this past Saturday, June 13 at Midvale Speedway. In addition to the weekly racing in Late Model, Sport Stock, Pure Stock, and Compact classes, Figure 8's and Spectator Drags were also held.
Ron Jaberg, Jr. jumped out front early in the McIntosh Oil Company Late Model division feature. The polesitter led the first half of the race looking for his first career Late Model feature win, despite winning an open competition Fall Classic race several years ago. On lap seven a caution waved putting Ernie Shook on the outside of the first double wide row in fifth. Shook immediately started his jaunt to the front. Via the outside lane, Shook picked off Mike Miller, John Sluka, Greg Beule, and Jaberg to race into the top spot. From there, the Wadsworth, Ohio driver was never challenged and claimed his first feature win in a number of years. Following Shook in his Wells Concrete #122 were Jaberg, Beule, Sluka, and Mark Willison. Others in the top ten were Bubba Smith, Miller, Bryant Smith, Rick Sibila, and Jonathan Reitter. Miller and Jaberg won the heats, while Bryant Smith set fast time.
An improving car count of Tusco Net Sport Stocks were on hand for Saturday's racing. Ron Kirkpatrick, a division rookie, jumped out front early in his Red Evans #64 Special. Kevin Locker, who took the lead from the back a week ago, moved to second early but wasn't able to get by Kirkpatrick for the lead. Randy Smart, though, made things happen and took over on lap five. The Kurt Garren MD./Professional Garage Door by Wayne Dalton #17 raced out front from his seventh starting spot. Top qualifier, Kevin McClintock was also on the move early and took second shortly after Smart moved into the front. However, McClintock's car would start sputtering moments later, and holding onto second became a challenge. At the finish, Smart, from Dover, Ohio, picked up his second win in 2009 and was followed by McClintock, Bill Aubihl who returned for the first time in a couple of years, Locker, and Kirkpatrick. Chris Miller, Blake Bitticker, Keith Anderson, and Jerry McNealy were other competitors in the rundown. McClintock won the heat.
Brian Minard, looking for career feature win #2, set the pace early in the Integrity Auto/Conrad Insurance Pure Stock feature. Minard led as teammate Teddy Oliver challenged until he made a pass on lap twelve. Following Oliver to the front was top qualifier and three time feature winner Tad Grove. Grove was mired deep in the field early, but used his patience to get there. Grove went to the outside of Oliver and after a couple of laps had finished his move from his tenth starting spot for the win. The J.D. Byrider/Greg's Recovery #31 was followed by Oliver, Todd Miller, Minard, and Ronald Bunton. Others in the top ten were Pat Moore, Phil Bunton, Jr., Bob Passwaters, Sr., Bob Passwaters, Jr., and Larry Smith. Minard and Moore won the heats.
John McNutt, an unflappable veteran, started on the pole for the 15-lap Parkway Auto Group Compact fast feature. Rich Dunlap moved into second and rode close to the rear bumper of McNutt for the rest of the race but McNutt never faltered hanging on for another feature win. Following the Uhrichsville, Ohio driver were Dunlap, Kelly McNutt, Don Rufener, Jr., and Derek Grewell. Other top ten finishers were Kyle Rector, Johnny Campbell, Kyle Grove, Jay Hunt, and Max McCartney.
Howard Bartholow started up front and led the first five laps of the second Compact feature. Taking over on lap six was Tammy Rufener, looking for her second feature win of the year. Rufener had to defend the lead spot from Brad Henry from the finish. At the checkered, the Auto Zone/Performance Graphics #7 was followed by Henry, Bartholow, Jason Anthony, and Neil Rolli.
Chasity Bunton led the first lap of the Compact feature, following her return from a non-racing related leg injury. Ryan Kopp led laps two and three before eventual feature winner Isaac Ferrebee claimed the top spot on lap four. Ferrebee raced to his first career feature win and was followed by Don Rufener, III, Taylor Moore, Kenny Jewell, and Pat Carnes. Tim Frederick, Dan Konovsek, Dan Bloom, Ryan Kopp, and Fireball Murray were top ten finishers.
Rich Dunlap, Jeffrey Orr, Neil Rolli, and Pat Carnes won the heats, while Jesse Page set the fastest qualifying time.
In the Midvale Speedway Figure 8 feature, Neil Rolli led the first three laps before Dan Konovsek moved into the lead on lap four to claim his first career Figure 8 feature win. A race long battle ensued between Derek Grewell and the Jason and Gene Morgan race team and plenty of carnage was noticeable. Jason Morgan finished second, Rolli third, Gene Morgan fourth, and Grewell fifth.
Steven Feister made it two-for-two this season on the Spectator Drags.
Fans have been waiting for the upcoming night of action for a while, as the School Busses return for the first time in 2009 for a Figure 8 race. The School Bus Figure 8 will headline the event, while Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Compacts will also compete. The School Bus driver lineup will be announced early this week.
Pit gates open at 2, hotlaps start at 3:00, qualifying will be at 5:00, and racing will begin at 6:30. Grandstand admission for this special event is $13 for adults and seniors, $8 for kids 6-15, and children 5 and under are free. Pit admission remains regular at $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
This Saturday's Bus Race participants are expected to be Bubba Smith, Bryant Smith, Teddy Oliver, Joe Fewkes, Luther Chambers, Neil Rolli, and Terry Colletti.
