Sunday, April 19th Ohio's Fun Place to Race!! 2026 Race Season Willison Finds Late Model Victory Lane June 6, 2009 UPDATE: Late Model car owner Dan Stemple, who suffered a major heart attack in the pits last weekend, was transported to Mercy Medical in Canton late Saturday night. He has shown signs of improvement but is still in serious condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. Updates will be posted as they come available. Nice weather and great racing were the strong points of the June 6 program at Midvale Speedway. Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Compacts were all in action. Bicycle races were held at intermission for the kids. The McIntosh Oil Company Late Model feature was the best of the night. Bob Schneider, Jr. started from the pole position and moved into the early lead. George Riddle, the outside polesitter, ran in second until his lap thirteen spin, which was the race's first caution. That gave second to Mark Willison and he immediately started applying the pressure to Schneider. Also battling for the win was Bryant Smith, who looked strong in the outside lane. Smith looked for a while like he might get the job done, but a flat left front tire stopped his effort. Willison made a run late in the race to the inside, but Schneider protected it well. On a final restart with less than five to go, Willison went to the highlane and pulled alongside the leader. Coming across the line at the white flag, Willison was the new leader, as Schneider defended second. Willison, the Minerva, Ohio driver, claimed his first win in a couple of seasons. Following in the top five were Schneider, Mike Miller, Ryan Tedesco, and Ernie Shook. Ron Jaberg, Jr., Bubba Smith, Rich Dessecker, Greg Beule, and Bob Eichel were top ten finishers. Bryant Smith, Schneider, and John Sluka won the heats, while Shook was top qualifier. The Tusco Net Sport Stock feature was exciting early, despite the small car count. Fans were watching Ron Dague and Kevin McClintock try to get to the front. However, the first to do so was Kevin Locker from his final starting position. On lap seven, McClintock became the third different leader of the race by getting around Locker when his mount started to fail. Dague was slowly working his way to the front and eventually got to second on lap eleven. However, McClintock extended his lead and raced into the Downtown Ford Victory Lane. Following the Federated Auto Parts/Glass Lumber Company #38 were Dague, Keith Anderson, Chris Miller, and Ron Kirkpatrick. Dague's second place standing was taken away after the race for soft tires, and McNealy became the new fifth place finisher. McClintock was top qualifier and heat race winner. Brian Minard led early in the Integrity Auto/Conrad Insurance Pure Stock feature. A challenge from top qualifier Tad Grove came on lap four and just a couple of circuits later, Minard was clocked under his qualifying time, eliminating him from the event. Grove inherited the lead, while Todd Miller took second and Lee McCreery third. However, during a later caution, McCreery's car was sent pitside for a water leak. At the finish, the J.D. Byrider/Greg's Recovery was followed to its third straight feature win by Miller, Teddy Oliver, Larry Smith, and Bob Passwaters, Sr. Others in the top ten were Ronald Bunton, Bob Passwaters, Jr., Josh Flesher, McCreery, and Phil Bunton, Jr. Grove and Minard won the heats, while Grove was also top qualifier. The fast Parkway Auto Group Compact feature was a tight nit race that had very little passing due to a small invert after qualifying. Top Qualifier Kyle Rector rolled a six on the dice, putting the sixth fast qualifier on the pole. Rector, one of the only drivers trying to make moves in the field ran the outside lane for much of the race, but not much headway was made. Polesitter Don Rufener, Jr. led from start to finish to claim the win. The Uhrichsville, Ohio driver was followed by John McNutt, Tim Westerfield, Jr., Kelly McNutt, and Johnny Campbell. Westerfield's third place finish was taken away due to a wheelbase infraction, moving Rector into the top five. Adam Mishler led from start to finish in the second Compact feature. The Uhrichsville, Ohio driver was in a back-up car, due to overheating problems in his main ride. Mishler won convincingly over Tim Westerfield, Wes Ennis, Jim Poole, and Chris Bloom. Perk Pyle, Jr. led the first lap of the third Compact feature but Howard Bartholow came from the fourth starting spot to take the lead on lap two. Bartholow went on to fend off advances by Neil Rolli for the win. Lennie Orr, Isaac Ferrebee, and Pat Carnes completed the top five but Orr did not report to tech, losing the spot. Kenny Jewell was given a top five. Racing will continue this coming Saturday, June 13 with Spectator Drags and Figure 8's back on the schedule. Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Compacts will also compete on an action packed night. Admission remains regular at $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 62+, and $6 for kids 6-15.
