Ohio's Fun Place to Race!! 2026 Race Season |
 | October 4, 2008 |
The 2008 racing season officially came to an end this past Saturday, October 4 at Midvale Speedway. A jam packed night of action was held for the Fall Classic and Compact Nationals. Over 100 race teams participated in the night’s events in front of a surprisingly good crowd on a cold night.
Ryan Tedesco claimed another feature win in the McIntosh Oil Company Late Model division by way of a late race pass on Darrel Dexter. Mark Willison looked to have the $1,000 wrapped up before brake problems sent him spinning. Willson and Mike Miller claimed heat wins, while A.P. Ren set fast time.
The Northern Ohio Legend main event had Jason Knox continuing his success at Midvale this year. Knox was followed by Brandon Huff and Bryan Nuckles in the final rundown. Nuckles and Knox won the heats.
The Tusco Net Sport Stock 25-lap feature turned into a 20-lapper after the first lap crash eliminated nearly half the field. The “big one” claimed the cars of Ron Kirkpatrick, Chris Boone, Jerry McNealy, and Blake Mackey. Kevin McClintock took advantage and went on to claim the victory. Randy Smart, Nick Grubbs, and Ron Dague were top four finishers.
The Midvale Speedway Pure Stocks put on a stellar show, if you like a lot of cautions. The race was eventually called with less than ten laps complete due to time limit constraints. Larry Smith was the benefactor of the shortened race and picked up his first 2008 victory. Keith Anderson, Chris Mick, Rick Pereces, and Rich Schweitzer were challenging him when the final caution came out.
A.J. Diano was cruising out front in the 50-lap Compact Nationals main as the leader for many of the race’s laps. However, late in the race, Kelly McNutt started to apply some heavy pressure, forcing Diano under his qualifying time. Diano dropped to the back and was unfortunately caught in a heavy crash as he was making his way back to the front. McNutt took the victory while Cliff Cox had a good run in second.
The Figure 8 feature had Isaac Ferrebee leading from flag to flag for the top prize. Derek Grewell needed one more lap to challenge and just ran out of time.
The school bus demolition derby started 5 busses with only Dave Watson’s running at the end.
Information on the 2009 racing season will be coming very soon, via the website at midvalespeedway.com. Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, Compacts, and Figure 8’s are again to be the track’s regular divisions. Banquet info will be coming soon as well.
