Thursday Press Release
Drivers are preparing the final night of the 2008 racing season, this coming Saturday, October 4th at Midvale Speedway. In addition to the 6 division show, a school bus demolition derby, powder puff races, and the Ohio State game will be played on a big screen television.

Late Models will run 35 laps for a $1,000 top prize and will be the headline division of the evening. Several regular drivers have already called it quits for the season but will be replaced by a host of new drivers looking for quick success. 2007 NASCAR Ohio State Champion Tim Allensworth has his car prepared for a return to the 3/10-mile oval. In addition, 3-time Main Event Racing Series champ Rich Rohrer, 2001 Fall Classic champion Bob Gainer, former karting and Late Model hotshoe A.P. Ren, and regular Main Event competitor Joel McKnight have indicated they will be competing. A long list of regulars will be joining the card in the strong 2008 Late Model class.

The Tusco Net Sport Stock class may see a few new faces this weekend as well. Barberton Speedway frontrunner Denver Carte has intentions on joining the competitive class for the season ender. Veteran campaigner Red Evans has purchased the McBride Racing #11 and will be competing for the first time in a number of seasons. Blake Mackey will be behind the wheel of the #49 Dodge, completing his driving duties for each of the three manufacturers. Kevin McClintock, Ron Dague, Randy Smart, Scott Archer, and Nick Grubbs are expected to battle, as they have all this season, for the win in the 25-lapper.

The Midvale Speedway Pure Stock division has had three very strong contenders this season, Tory Gibbs, Rich Schweitzer, and Tad Grove. Other contenders including the Oliver Race Team, Keith Anderson, Todd Miller, and the Passwaters will be looking to end the season strong. A couple of outsiders are expected, but only Mark Lushes in the #88 has been confirmed.

The Compacts will be running their 50-lap Compact National feature as part of the Fall Classic. The top 24 qualifiers will be locked into the A-main feature that will pay $150 to win. The rest of the division will be split into one or two other features. The Compact division will see the regular strong field as well as a few outsiders looking to etch their names into the Midvale Speedway record books.

Other action on tap will be the Legend cars, Powder Puff races, and the School Bus Demo. A big screen tv will be placed near the flagstand to show the Ohio State game. Fans wishing to view the game should arrive early enough to pick a seat near the finish line area. The game will also be played in the pit area near the tower.

Pits open at 2:00, hotlaps and grandstands at 2:30, qualifying at 4:00, and racing at 6:00. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and seniors, $8 for kids 6-15, and children five and under are free. Pit admission is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.

The Ohio State game will be viewable on a big screen tv located near the flagstand on the grandstand side. If you want to watch, you may want to get a seat near the finish line area. The game will also be played in the pit area on a tv near the tower.

Due to extremely wet conditions and a forecast that called for afternoon rain, officials at Midvale Speedway postponed the 2008 Fall Classic. The event will now be held on Saturday, October 4 in conjunction with the Compact Nationals.

Late Models and Sport Stocks have been added to the day's schedule and will be racing along with Legends, Pure Stocks, Compacts, and Figure 8's.

Also added to the program is a School Bus Demolition Derby. Many of the school busses that competed in this year's Figure 8 races will run in the demo, only to be retired afterwards. Teddy Oliver, Bob "The Animal" Eichel, and cousins Justin and Kevin Renicker are the first four participants. At least two other participants will be named in the near future. The Bus Demo will be the final event on the 2008 schedule as it will be held at the end of the night.

The racing classes will be competing extra laps for extra money on the 4th. Late Models will be running 35-laps for $1,000 to win, Sport Stocks 25 laps for a $300 top prize, Pure Stocks 25 laps for $150 to win and $20 to start, and the 50-lap fast feature for the Compact Nationals will start the top 24 qualifiers and pay $150 to win as well as money just to start the event. Figure 8's and Legends will round out the classes racing on the season ender.

The Late Model, Sport Stock, Pure Stock, Legend, and Figure 8 Divisions will be running under the normal Midvale Speedway rules, while the Compact rules will be adjusted slightly, as they have been for previous Compact National events.
