Practice, qualifying, and part of the heat race events were completed before rain set in this past Saturday, April 21 at Midvale Speedway.
In the McIntosh Oil Company Late Model division, Rich Marcum raced by Rick Sibila to claim the fast heat victory. In the second heat, Tom "The Farmer" Smith, stepped out of retirement and back into a racecar to claim the victory over Gary Hoopingarner. Mike Miller was the night's fast qualifier.
In the Tusco Net Sport Stock class, Nick Grubbs took the top prize in the preliminary event. Kevin McClintock claimed second, while Ron Dague set a new track record with a 15.14.
The Midvale Speedway Pure Stocks saw Tad Grove claim the fast heat race win before the storm moved in. Grove was edged in qualifying by Tory Gibbs.
As per the rulebook, points will be awarded to all divisions for qualifying, while heat points will only be dished out for the Late Model and Sport Stock classes. The Pure Stock second heat was not run, so the fast heat points will be negated.
Rain checks and wristbands will be good for Saturday, June 28 and Saturday, July 12. They cannot be used on Friday, July 4.
Racing will continue, with Mother Nature’s approval, on Saturday, June 28, with the 2008 Mid-Season Championships presented by McInturf Realty. Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, Compacts, and Figure 8’s will all be in action.
Pits will open at 2:30, hotlaps and grandstands at 3:00, qualifying is at 4:30, and racing will begin at 6:30. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 62+, $6 for kids 6-15, and children 5 and under are free.
