Sunday, April 19th Ohio's Fun Place to Race!! 2026 Race Season Tedesco Take School Bus Figure 8 Win Dague Wins Fourth Sport Stock Feature June 14, 2008 A near capacity crowd saw an action packed evening of racing entertainment this past Saturday, June 14 at Midvale Speedway. The 3/10-mile oval held its first ever School Bus Figure 8 race, a demolition derby, and racing in the Sport Stock, Pure Stock, and Compact divisions. One of the most anticipated races of the season was the School Bus Figure 8 event. A star studded field of drivers raced for 15 circuits. Track flagman and former racer Terry Colletti led the first lap before Ryan Tedesco, the 2007-Late Model point champion paced the field for the next three. On lap 5, Colletti took back over but his lead was brief as he had to check up for a bus at the intersection. Colletti was closing back in on Tedesco late in the race, but the battery door came open on his bus, the battery came loose, and Colletti lost all power. Tedesco avoided several extremely close calls at the intersection to pick up the first ever School Bus win at Midvale Speedway. Don Rufener, Jr. finished second, Ron Dague was third, Jan McInturf fourth, and Colletti rounded out the top five. Kevin McClintock drew the short straw and was forced to drive the bus with mechanical problems. He fell out of the event early. Jerry McNealy led the first two laps of the Tusco Net Sport Stock feature before Blake Mackey took the point. The Midvale, Ohio driver led the next ten paces before division frontrunner Ron Dague worked his way around to race out front. Kevin McClintock followed as the duo raced away from the field. Coming under the checkered, Dague picked up his fourth feature win of the year, while McClintock, Mackey, McNealy, and Virgil Ravenscroft, III finished off the top five. The Tolloti Pipe/Daggie’s Auto Service #75 was credited with the clean sweep as he also won the heat and was top qualifier. Brian Oliver was strong in the early going of the Midvale Speedway Pure Stock feature. The Canton, Ohio driver led the first nine laps before the wicked fast Tad Grove took the lead on lap ten. Grove then, was passed by Tory Gibbs one lap later. In a three car breakaway, Gibbs held off challenges from Grove and Rich Schweitzer to pick up his second feature win of the year. Following the Port Washington, Ohio driver were Grove, Schweitzer, Todd Miller, and Joe Oliver. The rest of the top ten were Jimmy Orr, Keith Anderson, Brian Oliver, Bob Passwaters, Sr., and Phil Bunton, Jr. Grove and Brian Oliver won the heats while Grove also took the pursuit and was fast qualifier. In the Parkway Suzuki fast Compact feature, veteran Late Model driver Tom Garbrandt paced the field for the first eight laps before Brad Henry squeezed by. Henry led the field to the checkered to pick up the A-main win and was followed by Rich Dunlap, Tim Westerfield, Jr., Garbrandt, and Don Rufener, Jr. The rest of the top ten were Derek Grewell, Johnny Campbell, A.J. Diano, Kelly McNutt, and Michael Keefe. Kyle Lawson led early but Tammy Rufener was hungry for her first feature win of the season. The Uhrichsville, Ohio driver took over late in the race and celebrated in Downtown Ford victory lane. Following the Animal Racing/Route 39 Auto Salvage car were Jason Morgan, Earl Scranton, Jesse Page, and Joe Konovsek. Other top ten finishers were Lennie Orr, Kyle Grove, Kyle Lawson, Mike Belknap, and Larry Ennis. Jason Ray, in his first night of racing, led the first two laps before breaking out of his qualifying time in the third Compact main event. That gave the lead to Chasity Crawford. Running in her rookie season, Crawford has shown much improvement over the last few weeks and claimed her first career feature win. Following her were Mike Lawson, Paul Stull, Kenny Jewell, and Howard Bartholow. The rest of the top ten were Kenny Griffith, Doug Milburn, Joe Fitch, Pat Carnes, and Tim Frederick. Bill Irwin won the demolition derby by outlasting Youngblood and Kyle Grewell. At intermission, A.P. Ren and his mom competed in a school bus race with Mama Ren crossing under the checkered first. Racing will continue this coming Saturday, June 21 with the first edition of the Spectator Drags. Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, Compacts, and Figure 8’s will all be in action. Pit gates will open at 2:30, hotlaps and grandstands at 3:00, qualifying at 4:30, and racing at 6:30.
