Ohio's Fun Place to Race!! 2026 Race Season |
 | April 19, 2008 |
Midvale, OH - The 2008-season opener will take place one week after its scheduled date at Midvale Speedway. Originally to take place on Saturday, April 12, the lid-lifter was called off due to cold, wet, and windy weather conditions. Drivers will now see flagman Terry Colletti’s first green flag on Saturday, April 19.
Late Models, Sport Stocks, Pure Stocks, Compacts, and Figure 8’s will all be in action, competing for double points. The night will also mark the first of several programs featuring the spectator drags, with fans competing on the speedway at intermission.
The extra week layoff will give fans an opportunity to see even more cars, as several drivers were not quite ready for an event on the 12th. Those that had their rides complete did not necessarily have a wasted Saturday, as officials did hold a three hour test and tune session. Over 30 were on hand, including a decent pack of Sport Stocks and Pure Stocks, divisions that had low numbers during the first practice.
On a side note, Compact teams are reminded that the current wheel regulations will be enforced this weekend, including the minimum 4 1/2” offset limit. Complete details are available in the Compact division rules.
Pit gates will open this Saturday at 2:30, hotlaps will start at 3:00, qualifying will be held at 4:30, and racing will begin at 6:30. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 62+, $6 for kids 6-15, and children 5 and under are free.
