Midvale Rained Out
July 16, 2005
Racing action was cancelled this past Saturday, July 16 at Midvale Speedway. Showers narrowly missed the speedway for most of the morning and afternoon, but rain around 4:00 PM washed out the evening’s events.

Scheduled were four regular divisions of racing and Spectator Drags. The Spectator Drag races will be made up on Saturday, August 6. The second appearance for the Midvale-Lorain Late Model Super 6 Series will also be held on that night.

Coming up this Saturday, July 23, the Super 6 Series makes its first ever appearance at Midvale Speedway. Over 20 Performance Race Fuels Late Models are expected to run in the 35-lapper, paying extra money to run. $1000 will be given to the winner, with $125 just to start, based on 20+ cars.

Lorain Speedway has been the home of the first two series’ events this season, and the track drew its two largest Late Model fields of the year. Two competitors familiar with racing at Midvale Speedway, Don Harvey, Jr. and John Crumrine, were the winners of the Lorain events.

Current Super 6 Series points have Harvey, Jr. on top of Bubba Smith, Bobby Porter, Jimmy Carter, and John Sandquist, Jr. Completing the top five in the series’ standings are Mike Miller, John Sandquist, Sr., Jay Grega, Tom Stankewicz, and Bob Hennings. Many of those drivers, along with Midvale’s regulars, are expected to comprise a stellar field.

Pit gates open on Saturday, July 23 at 2:00, hotlaps start at 2:30, qualifying is at 4:00, and racing action will begin at 6:30. Admission prices will be $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 62+, $6 for kids 6-15, and children under the age of 6 are free. Pit prices are $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
