MERS 100 Postponed

August 8, 2003
The Main Event Racing Series 100, scheduled for Saturday, August 9, was postponed due to wet conditions. The event will now be held on Saturday, August 23, with racing set to begin at 6:30.

Qualifying took place for the Main Event Racing Series and points were distributed accordingly. Qualifying for Midvale's regular divisions does not count towards the point standings, since an event was not run.

Gary Whipkey set fast time for the Super Late Models with Don Harvey, Jr., John Cline, Marcus Malcuit, and Rick Groetsch completing the top five. Mark Striker, Keith Thomas, Justin Courtney, and Randy Smart were the other division top qualifiers. 20 Super Lates, 15 Modifieds, 17 Pro Stocks, 22 Pure Stocks, and 39 Compacts were on hand.

Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Compacts will now run heats and features on Saturday, August 23, while the Main Event Racing Series will compete in leg #5 of their 2003 season, in a 100-lap grind. New cars are welcomed in all divisions, as all classes, including the MERS, will requalify.

As an added attraction, USAR Procup driver, Bobby Gill, will be on hand competing in the MERS 100. For further updates, go to midvalespeedway.com.

Pits open at 1:00, hotlaps are at 2:00, qualifying is at 3:45, and racing starts at 6:30. For more information, go to midvalespeedway.com. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $10 for kids ages 6-16.

Racing will also continue at Midvale this coming Saturday, August 16. The Legend cars will be on hand as well as the Dale's Heating & Cooling Figure 8's. Regular admission prices will be in effect. Racing will begin at 6:30.
