Very beautiful Afternoon into the evening. Race fans seen a very actioned packed night. Every division put on a great show. Drivers were all happy to get in group photos with their fellow competitors before doing battle for the nice Mid-Season Trophies.
First feature of the evening was the 12 Lap Finish Line Motors Mini-Trucks. Front row was #22 of Jaberg and #118 of Colt Locker. Green waved and Jaberg seemed to have gotten a better start then Locker. Battle behind them between Schweitzer and Linard. Linard had the inside lane and was the lane to be in as the outside was a little slick. Schweitzer would slide up as Linard gets the advantage. Schweitzer starts to put pressure on Jaberg off turn 4 on lap 5, Jaberg gets a little loose, comes down into Schweitzer, he starts to go toward the wall, then back into infield and saves it at the line. On lap 6, the first caution as the #21 of Alex Striejewske spins on own off turn 4. Caution dug into the lead Locker in 118 had over Jaberg 22 and Linard in 84. Green waved with Locker and Linard. Linard jumps right into the lead after getting a great start. Locker would continue to put pressure as Schweitzer also tried to start closing in. Off turn 4, to the Double Checkered flag, win went to the #82 South Phil Pizza, CinnaVapes, Ennis Hauling of Dover,Ohio driver Joe Linard. Following was Locker, Schweitzer, Jaberg, an Varnes. Top Qualifier Rich Schweitzer. Heat went to Joe Linard.
Second feature was the Canton Auto Salvage Compacts doing 15 laps of battle. Buckey in #69 and Patterson in #8 set the front row. Green waved and a good battle for the lead between a veteran and rookie. Buckey started to pull away from Patterson. Shields, Cogar, and Bigham all battled between the top 3 spots. Lap 6, seen the first caution which was out for the #4 of Salsberry into Shields in #92 on front straight and Shield would turn into Cogar in #77 and only spinning. Nothing bad except for Shields getting Front and Rear bumper damage. Green came back out and Buckey had the bottom line. Buckey started to check out as Vanmeter, Oliver, Shreffler, McDonlded, Jaberg all battle to get to the front. Good two wide and three wide battle throughout. Lap 12, caution waved for the #19 of Oliver coming down into the #24 of Shreffler off turn 2. Oliver tried to save it, went through the grass and cut a left front tire and it dug into the ground almost flipping. 3 laps to go for Buckey. Buckey now had a battle on his hands as Vanmeter was second. Green waved and Buckey got a great start. Vanmeter started to battle to the outside. White waved and both side by side at the line. Going into turn 3, Vanmeter high Buckey low. Vanmeter slides up a little bit. Off turn for winning by a car, the Mid-Vid, Buckey Mowing, from Sherrodville,Ohio Dan Buckey. Following was Vanmeter, Salsberry, Shreffler, and Finlayson. Heat wins went to Bigham, Buckey, and Herron. Top Qualifier was Gage Jaberg
Compact second feature, seen a green to checkered race. Jones in #75 and and Johns in #181. Green wave and Jones would going to the race lead. Battle deep in pack three wide as Herron, Shalosky, France, and Fredrick all trying to get the front. Shalosky would battle for the race lead about 4 laps in. Shalosky would become the leader. Started to check out but France was closing. Fredrick got stuck behind cars started to close in but on lap 7, black flag for going under his qualifying time. France would continue to battle with Shalosky. With 3 laps to go, 4 car battle for the race lead between Shalosky, France, Herron, and Butts. Which one was going to pull the move. Herron started to look high, Butts looks low. Off turn 4 to the Double cherckred winner in the Mattews Lawn Car, 2 guys Garage sponsored #2 of Kyle Shalosky. Following was France, Butts, Johns, Jones.
McIntosh Oil Company Late Model 30 lap feature was next. Jesse Page in #02 and Gary Hoopingarner #45 on the front row. 30 Lap feature was under way as Page looked to edge out Hoopingarner, but Hoopingarner keeps fighting back on the outside. Hoopingarner looked to have a little bit of a push in the middle of the corners. Schneider would then battle Hoopingarner for the second spot. As Hoopingarner trying to get used to new car, as Smith,Smith,Stankiewicz, and Mills go low. Off turn 2 on lap 3, Hoopingarner spins on his own. Page and Schneider on the front row. Schneider gets a great restart and takes over the lap going into turn 3. Smith and Stankiewicz all go high as page getting a little loose of the exit. Bubba and Bryant Smith touch going into Lap 5, as Bryant got a little tight going in an pushes up into Brother. Mills and Stankiewicz started to put on a show as going back and forth, and side by side. Outside lane still wasn’t the best, so inside lane was the lane you wanted. 3 laps straight Bryant Smith and Stankiewicz would battle. Close door to door racing. Schneider seemed to have been slowing up, as Bubba Smith gets around, Schneider starts to have sparks and to find out, he started to cut down a tire. Bubba Smith lead, Bryant Smith in second. Mills and Stankiewicz both not give an inch. Last couple laps became exciting for the third spot between Stankiewicz and Mills. Picking up the Mid-Season Trophy was the Freedom Auto Finance, Finish Line Motors Sponsored #12 of Canton Driver, Bubba Smith. Following was Bryant Smith, Stankiewicz, Mills, and Baker. Heat wins went to Bryant Smith, and Hoopingarner. Top Qualifier was Matthew Mills
Summit Racing Economy Modified hitting the track for their 25 lap feature. Front row was #10 of Kaufman and #0 of Ripley. Green waved as both ran side by side for two laps. First 6 rows were two by two. Off turn 2, on lap 2, McClintock made a three wide move down the back straightaway. McClintock would take lead through ¾ as Ripley was in the 3rd lane trying to get back down. McClintock would start to check out as it became single file after the start. Allensworth was battle with McMillen, Bailey and McCreery. All sorts of battling just no one could look or get a run on high side. Lap 17 seen the first caution after going 17 laps green. Cation out for the #27 of Swaney getting into Kaufman in #10 of turn 4. McClintock and Kaufman set up the restart. McCintock would go into race lead as McCreery looked underneath Ripley for the second spot. Lap 19, big crash off turn 4. Bailey in #55 cuts a tire through 3 and 4, makes contact with McMillen, McMillen/Bailey spin, Bailey spins down low and Mills in #4 has known where to go and makes contact but able to continue. Mills had his front bumper over top of Baileys left rear tire. Marder in 25 gets front end damage, and #27 of Swaney hits wall hard on exit of turn 4. He goes and gets checked out. McLintock and McCreery on front row, Green waves but a quick yellow as a failed start between the two. Green would come out as McClintock would get the lead over McCreery down the Back Straight. As Allensworth and Ripley battling for the third spot. Caution wave on lap 20, as the #37 of Cristain Bailey comes down into #4 of Mills of turn 4. McClintock and McCreery again ready to do battle. McCreery stayed right there with McClintock until turn 3 and 4 as second grove was making cars a little loose. Allensworth and Ripley going back and forth. Allensworth had the inside lane and Ripley outside but on exit car would get a little loose and start to slide up. Lap 23, caution as #54 of McMillen makes contact with #10 Kaufman on back straightaway. McClintock, McCreery, both have had great restart all year. Green waved and a great start both even at the line going into turn 1. McClintock to the inside, McCreery to the outside. McClintock clears McCreery of turn 4, McCreery trys to look low in middle 1 and 2. Off turn for in the Broadrun Cheese House, VanMeters Auto, Ferris Chevolet sponsored #38 from Dover,Ohio Kevin McClintock. Following was McCreery, Allensworth, Ripley, and Kaufman. Heat wins went to Ripley and Kirkpatrick. Top Qualifier was Bryce Allensworth
Last feature of the evening was the JD Bryrider Street Stocks. Collins and Smith started on the front row. Smith would start to check out over the whole field and had almost a straightway lead over second place. Lap 7, caution waved as #44 of Smith gets busted as he went over his time. Moss and Grove to bring the field to gree. Grover would stay in outside and battle with moss or a lap or 2. Caution waved in lap 10 as Cox in #21 gets in Moss in #77. Green would come back out but short lived as Schwartz gets into Smith in turn 3 and 4. Coming back to green. Grove pulls into lead with Pringle and Orr closing. Lap 10, another caution as #4 of Pringle spins Daves it by stops close to flag stand to stay off wall. Orr cuts a right rear tire on start. Green waves as Grove and Pringle up front as Moss closes. Lap 12, Gabe Pringle cuts a tire but caution cons out for the #4 Pringle spinning on own in turn 2. Gabe goes pits side to get tires changed and comes back out. Grove gets out ahead of Moss. As Smith rallies back from tough start, Gave Pringle after his Tore, Barker after fixing frame and front end after problem last week in feature, Cox filling in for Ritchey keeps car clean. Stays single file throughout. Picking up win was the J D Byrider, CNAC financing #3 of Kyle Grove. Heat wins went to Collins and Moss. Top qualifier was Gabe Pringle.
MAIN EVENT FRIDAY INFO
This coming Friday July 1st, the Main Event Racing Series Super Late Models will be in town for the Downtown Ford 100. Open Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Compacts will also be on hand in addition to a huge fireworks display that will light up the town around 10-10:30.
The built engine Modifieds will run their first of two scheduled events for the 2016 season with a 40-lap, $1,200 to win/$200 to start feature. Last year, we had a great field of crate and built engine Modifieds that put on an awesome show to a jam packed crowd.
The Modifieds will be using home track rules from Lorain, Sandusky, Barberton, and Midvale. Midvale Mods will be permitted a 50 pound weight break and a 4 barrel carb. 602 crate cars will also be running for bonus money. $200 will be paid to the highest finishing 602 crate car, with $100 for second, and $50 for third.
The 40-lap payout will be $1,200, 700, 600, 500, 400, 350, 300, 250, 225, and 200 to start. $100 tow money will be paid to those who attempt but don't make the show.
We are working on an entry list for the Main Event Racing Series and the Modifieds. If you know of anyone running please have them get with us so we can get the list together. We hope to have the list done by Wednesday or Thursday. Thank you we appreciate it!
Pits will open at 2:00. Grandstands will open at 4:00. MERS will practice from 4-4:45 and will have a scuff session from 6-6:30. All other cars will practice from 4:45 to 6:00. Qualifying will begin at 6:30 with group qualifying for the Compacts and Street Stocks following them will be single car qualifying for the Modifieds and Main Event Racing Series. Pit admission will be $35. Grandstands admission is, Adults and Seniors $20, Students 6-15 $10, and Children 5 and Under are FREE.
There will also be an open practice Thursday from 4-8, $10 for pits and free for the grandstands.
