Ohio's Fun Place to Race!! 2024 Race Season |

Weather was perfect for night number six of “Thunder in the Valley 2015”. Couple new cars showed up for the 50 lap Late Model Feature and a couple new ones in the Modifieds as well. 70 Cars total were at Midvale Speedway this past weekend. Exicting racing action in all five divisions from the heat races to the features.
First feature of the evening was the Canton Auto Salvage Compacts. Starting on the front row was #17 of Laney Striejewske and #169 of Allen Clark. Green flag waved for the 20 lap feature and Striejewske shot out of a canon and hung onto the bottom. Clark followed behind her, and looked to the inside and outside but just couldn’t get by. Leeza Moore got underneath Clark off of turn two and on the back straightaway and made in girl power in first and second. Lap four we had are first caution. Caution waved for the #69 of Jake Albright who spun on his own and the #19 of Clayton Oliver how had no where to go and hit the #69 of Albright. Ending his night, by the looks of a blowen radiator. Only caution and went last 16 laps green and what an exicting race. Lap 4 restart had Striejewske and Moore. Green waved and Striejewske again shot out of a canon but Moore was hanging with her on the outside. Striejewske would lead until lap 14 when Finlayson beat her to the line by inches. Finlayson would have Joe Oliver and Keller Jr, follow behind. Oliver would try every line to get around Finlayson but at the Double Checkard Flags, the win went to the #15 of Finlayson Towning, Finlayson Trucking and Tedesco Racing Graphics of Kyle Finlayson. Following Finlayson was, Oliver, Keller Jr, Moore, and Herron. Heat Wins were Jaberg and Bailey and Top Quilifer was Blaine Salesberry.
Second feature of the evening was the Summit Racing Economy Modifieds. On the front row, was #51 of Rick Elkins Jr, and #88 of Chris Piehl. Green flag waved and coming to first lap, in turn three, contact with the 10E of Embree would bring caution out and a complete restart. Green would wave and Elkins would jump out front and lead, but wouldn’t last long. On lap 2 a yellow would wave for the #112 of Harvey and #10 of Kauffman getting together in the middle of turn one and two, ending both there nights. On the restart with two in and twenty-three laps to go set up Elkins jr and Allensworth on the front row. Green waved and Elkins had the bottom and took off and Allensworth stuck on the outside feel back to third and McClintock would get around him for the second spot off turn two and Allensworth would fall to third. Elkins and McClintock would start to check out and Allensworth was holding onto third. Lap 8 caution would come out for the #82 of Sibla Jr, getting into #55 of Brandon Bailey off of turn two and sending Bailey spinning into the infield. Green would wave having Elkins and McClinotkc on the front row. Elkins would pull to the lead and into turn one, another caution would wave for the #2 of McCreery getting into the #21 of Allensworth. Lap nine restart has Elkins Jr and McClintock on the front row and would be the last restart. Green waved and Elkins seemed to have the advantage but off turn two, McClintock would take the top spot and McClinotkc and elkins would both check out over the field for final sixteen laps. At the end of the night picking up second win of 2015 and first repeat winner, the #38 of Dover, Ohio, Davis Electric, VanMeters Auto, Angles Closet, Glass Lumber of Kevin McClintock. Following McClintock was Eklins Jr, Allensworth, Bailey, and Boron Jr. Heat winners were, Piehl, Eklins Jr, and Kauffman. Top Qualifer Lee McCreery.
Next feature was the Finish Line Motors Mini Trucks. On front row was #23 of Dusty Nicholas and #95 of Micheal Varners. Green waved but at start, a yellow would come out for someone losing a belt meaning someone will soon over heat. Green would come back out and Nicholas would get the lead but caution would come out for the #23 for overheating and getting water all over the track. Lap two restart and would have Bertram and Anderson and Bertram would shot out of a canon and lead and the battle behind him was exciting. Battle for second between Andersona and Cordia would go on until the lap 7 caution with the #95 of Varnes and #22 of Cody Jaberg. Lap 7 restart and Bertram would take the lead and never look back. Cordia and Anderson would still battle but at the end the #155 from Springfield Township,Ohio, the Lakes Auto Recycling, Bond Heating and Cooling of Cyler Bertram the Win. Following Bertram was Cordia, Anderson, Varnes and Jaberg. Heat Winner Cordia and Top Qualifier Cyler Bertram.
Time for the Main event of the evening. The McIntosh Oil Company Late Model 50 lapper. Starting on the front row of the 19 car field was #28 of Jonathan Rietter and #03 of Johny Hughes. Green waved and Reitter shot out like a “Mountion State Mistle”. Rietter would lead lap one and Hughes was still on rear quarter panal. Passing the start finish line, the #87 of Mazzagatti, leaked rearend fluid all over the track and in turn one, the #4 of Mills slowed down and seems good until the #96 of Kahler,#17 of Schneider Jr, #45 of Hoopingarner, and #69 of the Eichel, all got together and made the “Big One” in turn one ending all there nights. Green would wave with 1 lap in and 49 laps to go. Reitter and Sibla were on the front row and the out side was not the lane to be in. Off turn two, Rosenberry would get second and set signs on Reitter. Getting one lap in after restart, caution would wave for the #03 of Hughes spinning on own in three and four. Restart on lap 2, which had Rosenberry and Reitter and Rosenberry would pull to the lead off turn two. Lap 3 caution would wave for the leader of Rosenberry, spinning on own, from the track condition of turn two. Lap 3 restart would have Reitter and Bryant Smith. Reitter would pull into the lead and Smith would stay side by side and get lead on lap 5 but again trouble for the leader, spining on his own off turn number two. Lap 5 restart had Reitter and Tedesco and off turn two, Tedesco would be the leader. Bubba Smith started making his way to the front and then started to challenge Tedesco for the top spot. Smith would keep trying to go to outside but just didn’t seem to have the grip and Tedesco had the lane everyone wanted. Lap 12 caution for the #69 of Eichel blowing up in the middle of one and two. Restart setting up Tedesco and Smith. Green waved and Tedesco started to pull away but Smith keep bringing him in. Smith looked under Tedesco into turn three and Tedesco closed the door and Smith started to spin but saved in off of four and came back out third in line. Smith would again get around Stankiewicz for the second spot and again put a challenge to the front. Lap 36, yellow would wave for #2 of Rosenberry blowing a Right front tire in turn three and four. On lap 36 restart, Stankiewicz seemed to have lost power and on backstraightaway break checking happened and took out #28 of Reitter, #02 of Page, and #23 of Kirkpatrick. Good cars just trying to make it to the end clean. Another restart and last one of the evening in the Late Models had Tedesco and Smith on the front row, and Tedesco would check out and never look back but Smith wouldn’t give up but outside lane just wasn’t the lane to try in. At the Double Checkred Flags, the #70 of New Philadelphia,Ohio, VanMeter’s Auto, CC Performance Engnies, of Ryan Tedesco. Following Tedesco was Bubba Smith, Rick Sibla, Bryant Smith, and Scott Baker. Top Qualifier was Bubba Smith.
Last feature of the evening was the J.D.Byrider Street Stocks. Starting on the front row was #11 of TJ Barker and #80 of Robbie Patterson. Green waved and Barker woulf pull into the lead, using the bottom lane. Barker never even left the bottom and just hugged it like a teddy bear. Barker would hold the lead until lap 6 when the #44 of Larry Smith took the lead and lead lap 6 at the line by inches to Barker. The man on the move was the #21 of Colton Ritchey. Lap 14 we had is fisrt caution and was for the #77 of Moss getting into the #03 of Hughes into turn one. Restart on lap 14 had Smith and Ritchey. Green waved and Ritchey used the outside and got the lead off of turn number two. Ritchey would then start checking out but lap 16 a caution waved for the #74 of Passwater Jr, blowing a right front tire on the backstraighaway. Restart had Ritchey and Smith but Ritchey was the car to beat. At the end of the race, the young gun in the #21 from Akron, Ohio, Cardinal Asphalt, Shook Bro’s, Innovative Autosports of Colton Ritchey picking up his second win and was back to back. Heat winners were, Passwaters Sr and Hughes. Top Qualifier was Josh Moss.
