Fans, teams, and drivers excited about the 2014 racing season at Midvale Speedway will have to wait at least one extra week. The opening event, scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 19, has been postponed to Saturday, April 26 due to some construction delays at the track. Test and tune dates will still be held this Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13 as well as Saturday, April 19, and Friday, April 25.
Track owner Randy Smith stated, "Everything is moving along pretty well right now, but we had a late start with all of the bad weather this winter. I think fans will be pleased with the new restroom facilities as well as the concession and main concourse areas, but everything is taking time."
The season opener on Saturday, April 26 will feature double points for Late Models, Economy Modifieds, Street Stocks, Compacts, and Mini-Trucks, this year's weekly divisions. Spectator drags will also be held at intermission for the much anticipated opener.
Drivers will use the extra time to fine tune their cars for the season. Test and tune will be from 12:00-5:00 on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13 as well as Saturday, April 19. The final test before the opener will be on Friday, April 25 from 4:00-8:00. Pit admission is $10 with grandstand admission free.
